Hockey in Uruguay

Good turf, good games

School hockey tours built around well matched games on good turf. Hockey has been part of nearly every school group we have hosted, and girls teams from Buenos Aires have played their way through the North Island with us, against school first elevens and regional under 16 sides. We find opposition at your level, book turf time for training and make sure the day finishes with the two teams together. One touring group played four games in a fortnight, each against a different region. If your school travels with more than one code, hockey slots in easily: same route, games on the same days.

Uruguay is a ferry crossing from Buenos Aires over the Río de la Plata, which makes it a natural second country on an Argentine tour. We build Montevideo in as a two or three day leg: a game against local opposition, the old town and the port market, and a walk along the Rambla before the ferry back. It suits teams that want more than one stamp in the passport without adding long travel days.

Hockey Tours in Argentina and Uruguay

14 days

A two country hockey tour for school and club teams. Hockey is strong on both sides of the Río de la Plata: Argentina is one of the best hockey countries in the world, and Montevideo's club scene is close knit and welcoming. This tour takes in both: Buenos Aires, a ferry to Montevideo, then the Argentine coast. Girls hockey sides from Buenos Aires have toured New Zealand with us since 2023, and we plan this trip with the partners who bring them. Games are arranged at your grade. When to go: hockey is played from about March to November on both sides of the river, so a July or October tour meets teams in season.

Before you ask

Questions, answered

How much does a tour cost?

Every tour is quoted individually because every tour is built around your team — sport, level, dates and budget. Tell us what a great trip looks like and we will come back with an honest price and a first draft itinerary.

Can we customise our itinerary?

Yes — no two tours are the same. Every Brock Sports tour starts with your team, your sport and your goals, and we build it with you, fixture by fixture.

What is included in the price?

Every quote sets it out plainly. A typical tour covers games, training, accommodation, transport, breakfasts and dinners, and the cultural and sightseeing programme. Lunches and personal travel insurance are usually separate, and we will spell out anything else that is.

Which meals are included?

Breakfasts and dinners are included as standard. Lunches are usually at your own cost, so players can choose for themselves.

What happens if the weather turns?

We adjust the day and offer a suitable alternative wherever we can. It is New Zealand, so we plan with the weather in mind.

Do you run multi sport school tours?

Yes, it is the tour we run most. Recent school groups have travelled with rugby, hockey and volleyball teams together, and with rugby, basketball, hockey and handball. Boys and girls teams tour as one party and play on the same days where we can.
