Basketball in Uruguay

A game we know from the inside

School basketball tours in New Zealand and overseas, planned by people who know the game from the inside. Cole spent time as general manager of the Taranaki Airs, and basketball has toured New Zealand with us as part of a school group from Buenos Aires. We plan basketball the way we plan every code: games against school and club sides at your level, gym time between them, and the two teams together afterwards. If you are thinking about the United States, that is a newer destination for us and we plan each tour there from scratch. Tell us what you are after and we will be honest about what we can line up.

Uruguay is a ferry crossing from Buenos Aires over the Río de la Plata, which makes it a natural second country on an Argentine tour. We build Montevideo in as a two or three day leg: a game against local opposition, the old town and the port market, and a walk along the Rambla before the ferry back. It suits teams that want more than one stamp in the passport without adding long travel days.

Basketball Tours in Argentina and Uruguay

14 days

A two country basketball tour. Basketball has deep roots in Uruguay, where the national side won Olympic bronze medals in the 1950s and Montevideo's neighbourhood clubs still fill their gyms. We pair Montevideo with Buenos Aires and the Argentine coast, so a touring team sees two countries and two styles of play. Cole was general manager of the Taranaki Airs, so basketball is a game we know, and games are arranged for your level once we are planning together. When to go: plan for the cooler months. Junior basketball in Montevideo and Buenos Aires is played through the school year, and July is the heart of it.

Before you ask

Questions, answered

How much does a tour cost?

Every tour is quoted individually because every tour is built around your team — sport, level, dates and budget. Tell us what a great trip looks like and we will come back with an honest price and a first draft itinerary.

Can we customise our itinerary?

Yes — no two tours are the same. Every Brock Sports tour starts with your team, your sport and your goals, and we build it with you, fixture by fixture.

What is included in the price?

Every quote sets it out plainly. A typical tour covers games, training, accommodation, transport, breakfasts and dinners, and the cultural and sightseeing programme. Lunches and personal travel insurance are usually separate, and we will spell out anything else that is.

Which meals are included?

Breakfasts and dinners are included as standard. Lunches are usually at your own cost, so players can choose for themselves.

What happens if the weather turns?

We adjust the day and offer a suitable alternative wherever we can. It is New Zealand, so we plan with the weather in mind.

Do you run multi sport school tours?

Yes, it is the tour we run most. Recent school groups have travelled with rugby, hockey and volleyball teams together, and with rugby, basketball, hockey and handball. Boys and girls teams tour as one party and play on the same days where we can.
