Football in Japan

The world's game, on tour

School football tours, or soccer tours if that is what you call it at home. Football is the sport most of the world plays, which gives a touring team more choice of opposition than any other code. We will be honest about where we are at. Our touring history is strongest in rugby, hockey and volleyball, and football is a code we are building on the same foundations: the schools, clubs and people we already know. If you have a football side that wants to tour, tell us the level and the dates and we will show you what we can put together.

Japanese teams prepare with a discipline and work rate that visiting players talk about long after they get home, and they host with the same care. A tour here is as much about how the game is prepared as how it is played. From New Zealand, Japan is a direct flight of about eleven hours and only three or four hours behind us, so a school team lands ready to play. School sport there runs through after school clubs that train most days of the year. Rugby has boomed since the 2019 World Cup, football has a national high school championship that fills stadiums, and basketball has grown quickly since Japan helped host the 2023 World Cup. We have people on the ground in both Japan and New Zealand, and we are building this destination through them, one relationship at a time. That means we take on only what we know we can deliver well. If Japan is on your list, talk to us early and we will tell you honestly what is possible for your group.

Football Tours in Japan

By arrangement

Japan football tours for school and club teams. Japanese football is built on technique and organisation, from the J.League down to a national high school championship that fills stadiums every winter. Football is a newer code for us and Japan is a destination we are building one relationship at a time, so we will be honest about what is possible. Tell us your squad and your dates and we will come back with a straight answer. When to go: the national high school championship runs from late December into January. For a touring squad, spring and autumn are the most comfortable months to play.

Before you ask

Questions, answered

How much does a tour cost?

Every tour is quoted individually because every tour is built around your team — sport, level, dates and budget. Tell us what a great trip looks like and we will come back with an honest price and a first draft itinerary.

Can we customise our itinerary?

Yes — no two tours are the same. Every Brock Sports tour starts with your team, your sport and your goals, and we build it with you, fixture by fixture.

What is included in the price?

Every quote sets it out plainly. A typical tour covers games, training, accommodation, transport, breakfasts and dinners, and the cultural and sightseeing programme. Lunches and personal travel insurance are usually separate, and we will spell out anything else that is.

Which meals are included?

Breakfasts and dinners are included as standard. Lunches are usually at your own cost, so players can choose for themselves.

What happens if the weather turns?

We adjust the day and offer a suitable alternative wherever we can. It is New Zealand, so we plan with the weather in mind.

Do you run multi sport school tours?

Yes, it is the tour we run most. Recent school groups have travelled with rugby, hockey and volleyball teams together, and with rugby, basketball, hockey and handball. Boys and girls teams tour as one party and play on the same days where we can.
